Album Notes

Alans' long awaited second solo album 'Silver Morning', all original songs with great guitar playing and vocals and fine acoustic production by Alan and Jim Monahan, (who also plays mandolin, weisennborn and bass), is now available. Recorded June through August of 2004. Other players on the CD include Tom Ball: Harmonica, Bob Nichols; Percussion, Gabe Witcher: Fiddle, Randy Tico: Fretless Bass, Angus Cooke: Cello, and Jeff Elliott: Flugelhorn. Alan has played this past Fall and Summer accross the Midwest and Northwest at numerous music festivals and continues to make new fans wherever he goes. He played this Fall at the Strawberry Music Festival with Pat Flynn (Of the New Grass Revival and who also produced Alans' last album 'Sittin' Out the Rain'), as well as with Pat, John Cowan and Stuart Duncan at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield Kansas. Look for Alans' music and the coming seasons' schedule at www.alanthornhill.com and give a listen to this new collection of original tunes. Alans' playing (Winner of the 1995 Telluride Music Festival Fingerstyle Guitar Championship) and his singing seem to get smoother with age and the songs more finely crafted with time.

Beautiful music!

I heard one track of this CD playing on a cafe's website and immediately wanted to buy the CD. The songs are great, and Alan's vocals and guitar playing are first-rate, as are the other musicians!

Alan Thornhill must join your CD collection

Well, when I pick a random album and there are 5 or six fine songs, and two truly great ones (Silver Morning and Like a River) I'm impressed. This is singer/songwriter stuff that gives singer/songwriter stuff a good name. I'll be looking for Mr. Thornhill at Kerrville and wherever else I hear he's gonna play.
