Album Notes

ALA NUI (english translation: big path) is an album of folk/island musical stories expressed through the sounds and rhythms of percussionist Mike Muldoon, and various guest artists. Mike worked as a member of Bruddah IZ Kamakawiwo'ole's band for several years and is joined here with fellow band mates Mel Amina and Analu Aina. Together the trio played on Israel's albums Facing Future, E Ala E, In Dis Life, Iz the Man and His Music, and other recordings. Ala Nui is a soulful tapestry of rural island music. Other guests include Hoku Award winning artists Del Beazley, John and Ernie Cruz, and Ken Makuakane. DO NOT
judge this CD by it's cover!

A Great Contemporary Hawaiian Album
author: Todd L.
The stellar lineup of popular Hawaiian artists featured on this CD all contribute to the instantly catchy and immensely listenable recording. Upbeat, and at the same time, relaxing, this CD is as good as any contemporary Hawaiian album you will pick up. All ten tracks are great, but some standouts include, Kalena, Na Ka Pueo, and a rendition of Feeling Alright that remains true to the original.
