When I write a song, I always write about something that’s real and that I have passion for—I mean love songs are cute and fun, but my deep dark thoughts usually go way beyond that---writing music is what gets me through the day and the night—it’s a release and it keeps me out of the loony bin—so I write about injustice, poverty, war, abuse, betrayal, suicide—but I also include things like dreams, angels on the run and the magic that’s you.
I’ve always been told my vocal sound is unique—I can’t say for sure because no one can really listen to themselves objectively—so I’ll just say that I have the soul of Janis Joplin, the range of Tina Turner and the uniqueness of Anne Lennox or Joni Mitchell---my whole life I’ve listened to just about every kind of music out there—so who knows what my style is—I just go with the flow. What’s really cool is that my fans are of all ages—I guess music has no boundaries and maybe just sometimes someone listening to my music gets some sort of release too.
