Album Notes

Alcatrazz was a band ahead of its time. Signed to Capitol Records, the group already featurred some rock and roll luminaries including Graham Bonnet from Rainbow and Jimmy Waldo & Gary Shea from New England. The group enlisted a then unknown guitarist named Steve Vai. The group toured the world & scored a gold album. Vai later went solo & the group tapped Yngwie Malmsteen to play lead guitar & another hero was born. The Best Of Alcatrazz shows off the eraly work of two legends of hard rock guitar.

author: Mike Burns

The perfect collection of recordings from the critically acclaimed mid-80's rock band Alcatrazz offering up a clinic in Guitar Virtuosity from Yngwie and Steve Vai, Quintessential Hard Rock Vocals from Graham Bonnett, solid keyboard and bass support from former New England Gary Shea and Jimmy Waldo, and Jan Uvena formerly with The Alice Cooper Band holding it all together on drums and driving it home. A must have for the archives!

This is a great example of some of Steve Vai`s and Yngwie Malmsteen`s most tasteful guitar solos. What a great band. Not only the best rock singer ,but an awesome rythmn section in Gary Shea,Jimmy Waldo, and Jan Uvena!
