If Elvis Costello had lunch with Marshall Crenshaw and they wrote some songs with Frank Zappa that were performed by the Dave Clark 5 and the Foundations, it would sound a little something like this.

Album Notes

Alden Kahn and the KOs are a quirky pop group that is often referred to as "the most entertaining band of men since the ravenous Mongol Hordes swept across the steppes of Asia." When the fate of the world is at stake...When an international catastrophe is imminent...When cool retro-pop music is desperately needed...The Partisans of Pop deliver the KnockOut punch!...according to fairly reliable sources.

Buddha / Mohammed would be in trouble

After hearing Alden Kahn for the first time, everything is now clear. Total clarity.... everything makes sense. Growing up in the 60's, this work is basically tantamount to the Koran.... I have sold everything I own, moved into a refrigerator box out near the freeway, and spend my time at the airport encouraging all to listen. LIVE IT!!!!!

Assorted cerebral pop concoctions to boggle the mind

The Rise and Fall is an ambitious endeavor of Homeric proportions, although at times the lucky listener will have trouble deciding whether it's mythic trappings are closer to the Homer of "the Odyssey" or "the Simpsons." It is an epic saga of unquenched desire, passionate causes, political upheaval, human pathos, inevitable hubris and enlightened curiosity told in a series of original pop vignettes in various and sundry styles. And if interesting themes, creative arrangements and pop crafsmanship are not enough to convince discriminating shoppers to sample the goods, they should also consider that, if a scientific survey were conducted (and I'm not saying that it wasn't), nine out of ten dentists would recommend this CD for their patients who chew gum.

The Rise and Fall is a tasty smorgasbord of musical flavors; a veritable cornucopia of influences for the educated palate. Its eclectic mix of mouth-watering styles is understated, yet verbose. If quirky pop music were a giant chocolate eclair, this CD would be the delicious, creamy center. A triumph!
