I saw Al with his band two years ago in Beaulieu,( south of france), where I live. I usually do not like accordeon but this band changed my mind about the possibilities of accordeon playing. I then saw him the following year with Return to Forever at the Jazz Festival in Nice, (also south of france), the guy is a genius.

Caught both the Portland and Bend shows when WS was touring as a sextet here in the NW. Having the bass and additional percussion was a really spectacular layer to add, yet the intimate format of this CD is so powerful it lacks nothing while taking the listener to an engrossing emotional landscape.
