Ø. Elgstøen

A fantastic piano performance. A mediocre orchestra.
There is only one reason why I do not give this a full five stars, and that is the less than brilliant performance of the symphonic orchestra accompanying Mr. Aleksander. Sadly, the orchestra is somewhat daft, imprecise (mushing attacks into noise) and definately not of the pianist's quality. At times, when a section of brilliant piano performance ends, it sounds almost parodic when the orchestra takes over.
Nevertheless, this is a fantastic performance of a beautiful piece. It is well worth both your money and your listening time, and it gets even better after a few listens. Total play time is about 45 minutes. Buy this cd!
