Let me introduce my new solo album "A secret wish" to you.
One day almost every musician feels that his creative energy needs a way
out, and I was not an exception.
In this new album I wanted first of all to join various kinds of music
in a well-balanced way: jazz, R&B, funk, fusion, and of course ethnic
and oriental music.
I addressed to the traditional sources and the echoes of the past lives,
and I got various musical images, so I tried to embody them in my music.
This is how "A secret wish" appeared.
Now I would like to tell you a few words about myself. My name is
Alexander Kuzmin. I am a composer, arranger, multiinstrumentalist. I was
born and brought up in Sevastopol (the Crimean peninsula) in a jazz
musicians family. In my early childhood I started listening to and
playing music. I was greatly influenced by my parents’ music and by such
bands as Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Sonny Rollins,
Jaco Pastorius, John Scofield, Joe Zawinul, Marcus Miller, Stanley
Clarke, Weather Report, Earth, wind & fire, Level 42, Deep Forest, etc.
I followed my parents advice to enter a musical school and learn to play
the piano. But later I got interested in playing the bass and sax and
entered a jazz college in Kiev. I participated in various music
competitions and jazz festivals. I used to work in some funk-groups and
big-bands as a leader and a session musician. I take part in some
soloists’ projects as a composer and arranger.
I hope you will enjoy my music.
