About \'love bites\'
this is everything a country-roots break-up album should be: heartfelt, bittersweet, funny, chock full of feelings about bad endings, new beginnings, grudges, longing and loss. Oh, and there\'s banjo, lots of banjo.
About Alex Hickey
Alex wrote her first song, which was apparently about social disenfranchisement, at age 5. She progressed to singing lead for a couple of celtic rock bands in the 90s. Fortunately, her second band imploded in Commitments-esque splendor before she could completely strip her vocal cords belting out Pogues covers.
Since becoming a solo singer/songwriter in the mid-90s, Alex\'s style has grown from straight-up folk to roots music with blues and country influences. Alex writes down-to-earth, up-to-date songs about relationships, social issues, bicycles, sex, spirituality and quests of every kind. She struggles to walk the fine line between bitter and sweet.
An engaging recording artist and performer, Alex\'s guitar style is simple and direct; her voice will make the hair stand up on the back of your neck - in a good way.

Great Alt-Country/folk
author: Rudy Minnaert "Country Eagle" The Netherlands
When I did listen to this singer/songwriter. I first would placed her on the scene of that great concert I ever saw in the movie Woodstock. I also will compare Alex with Janis Joplin and Buffy Sainte-Marie. Alex her lyrics are good and they tell you a lot of the roughness nowedays.
