Al Fabrizio plays the traditional Neopolitan mandolin. His music appeals to young and old of every ethnic background with classic Italian love songs and European dances. He plays in the "tremolo" style which adds unusually warm expression and phrasing. His music creates an easy romantic listening mood which blends perfectly with candles, wine and pasta.
His CD entitled 'Serenata Italiana' is a selection of songs which transports the listener to the canals of Venice, the hills of Tuscany and the weddings of Sicily and provides "love potions" deeply felt from the heart... 'Santa Lucia,' 'Volare,' 'Summertime in Venice,' 'Godfather,' Innamorata,' to name a few.
'Serenata Italiana' has been receiving a remarkable response in sales, now in its third pressing. His second CD, 'Italian Heartstrings' was released in November, 2002.
Al (Anselmo) Fabrizio grew up in New York State with two musician brothers. His parents were from Abruzzi, Italy. He warmly recalls, 'I grew up hearing my mother always singing and harmonizing to the radio while and my father, with callused carpenter's fingers, occasionally would pick up the old mandolin made by my grandfather and magically fill the room with melancholy old songs from Italy. I'll never forget those sweet sounds.'
As a youth, Al played the oboe and clarinet. Later as an adult he was motivated to play the mandolin following the sudden loss of his brother, Raymond, a flute virtuoso. He felt music should continue with the family so he picked up his father's mandolin to honor Ray's memory and to celebrate with everyone the heart and soul of the songs he heard as a child.
Fabrizio is also the owner of Heartstrings Music, LLC., a recording and production studio in Mountain View, California with his partner, Hugo Wainzinger who is a gifted composer, musician and arranger from Argentina.

While strolling in Ghiradelli Square at Fisherman's Wharf (SF), I was immediately drawn to the beautiful music that was playing and sat down to listen for a long long while. The mood and setting was just perfect with the music...
So I just had to buy the CD.. Now that I'm back in Singapore, playing the CD just pulls me back to the place in time. Dinner even tastes better when I am listening to it. Thanks!!
