What essentially sets this new release apart from his previous records is the number of collaborations with fellow singer-songwriters and poets from both Mexico City and the Bay Area. Over 25 musicians participated in the creation of this album (including notable contributions from Fernando Delgadillo, David Haro, Alejandro Chavez, José Manuel Aguilera (of La Barranca fame), Mauricio Díaz “El Hueso” and MamaCoatl, and the sheer talent involved allows for the vibrant layering of multifaceted sounds that seamlessly blend several genres such as folk/trova, jazz, Latin acoustic, bolero, reggae, funk and pop that remain true to Maya’s unique voice.
