Album Notes

Alias Eye was founded in late 1998 when Philip Griffiths, Matthias Richter, Frank Fischer and Ludwig Benedek, who had been playing together for over four years, teamed up with keyboarder Vytas Lemke.

After writing a repertoire of songs, the band recorded their first CD Beyond The Mirror in 1999, which was very well received by the international press.

In sping 2000, the band was brought into contact with the dutch label DVS Records who signed Alias Eye in November of that year.

Work on Alias Eye's debut album Field of Names began immediately; an adept producer was found in Christian Schimanski, who had a grasp of the sound and feel the band was aiming for.

The album was finally completed in March 2001 after 5 long months at Blue Sky Studios in Southern Germany.

Encompassing 10 songs and clocking at a total of 54 minutes, Field of Names represents the essence of Alias Eye's music, a diverse collection of tunes from a variety of different genres, ranging from rock, pop, funk, jazz to classical.

ALIAS EYE have recorded a spectacular debut album!
author: Markus Weiß
Alias Eye were founded in late 1998. After writing a repertoire of songs, the band recorded their promising 3-track demo "Beyond The Mirror" in 2000. "Field of names" is their debut album ... and what a smasher it is ! "Field of names" has the quality to take all prog charts by storm. This german band has recorded an album that surely will become a classic: Great atmosphere, skilled songwriting, great technical skills always serving the song instead of the technical weirdos, wide melodies, defensive complexity, professional arrangements, entertaining joy of playing prog music and last but not least one of the best singers of the german prog scene. The sound of this release is as perfect as the artwork (Mattias Noren, who else). Soft melancholie, jazzin' fun, neoprogressive hymns, symphonic chords, soft complexity and groove ... ALIAS EYE love the music they play and so will you. ALIAS EYE have recorded a progressive opus, which easily can compete with the releases of the big progressive bands ... spectacular !
