Album Notes

The Alibis are an exciting new band made up of four veterans, each of whom has been chasing his own destiny in the pop world. Their respective careers have included stints with Tom Johnston, Nils Lofgren, Peaches and Herb, Lacy J. Dalton and many others.

The songs on forty days and forty nights run the gamut of musical emotion exuberant, reflective, nostalgic, soulful, defiant and majestic.

Featuring provocative lyrics, rich melodies, soaring harmonies and lead singer's Mike Costello's tough and tender voice, The Alibis serve up a strong and tasty concoction of flat-out great pop-rock original music.

At a time when the world desperately needs an intelligent and original dose of passionate rock n' roll, The Alibis give a much-needed injection.

Experience Wins Out!
author: Bruce Grant
This group is loaded with long-time professional musicians. Two of them have played professionally for more than 30 years! The songs and arrangements are complex, yet easy to enjoy. The song "1968" will make you think. DON'T expect any cliched lyrics in their songs, either. Do expect high energy. DO expect depth. DO expect emotion. Highly recommended. I bought it.

The best of classic rock with a modern edge !
author: Laura T. Lynch of Kweevak.com
Forty Days and Forty Nights energetically echoes the past sounds of the 60's and 70's but is very much a modern pop album. Each of the multi-talented members of the band plays a variety of instruments and three of the four are songwriters also. This CD is a group effort drawing from the ideas and varied musical experiences of each member, yet it is a cohesive collection. Their stories are told passionately with gritty vocals. The Alibis are basically a guitar driven band accented with soulful keys and a solid rhythm section. The guitars jams are skillful and are multi-layered, adding depth to many of the songs. I particular liked the grove on 'Hey Little Mama,' 'Havin a Good Time' and 'Take Me Away' all of which had a great classic rock feel reminiscent of other greats such as Little Feat and The Band.

"...these true believers are admirable for the energy they commit to playing the real thing--basic guitar-driven, harmonica-colored, mid-tempo tunes that tell their tales concisely with a full measure of spirit..."
