In Words Through The Seasons, singer-songwriter Alicia McGovern’s second record, she enlisted the expertise of engineer and producer Mark Thayer, who has worked with many of her musical heroes, including Richard Shindell, Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer, and Antje Duvekot. The CD was recorded at Signature Sounds Studio in Pomfret, CT. In addition to featuring Alicia on acoustic guitar and vocals, the record features mulit-instrumentalist Duke Levine on guitar, sitar, banjo, mandola, and mandolin, as well as Brad Wentworth on percussion, Rob Jost on bass, and Daisy Castro on violin, viola, and cello. The result is a journey through the seasons, both the seasons of the world, and the seasons of the heart, that is sometimes contemplative, sometimes quirky.
Alicia is most known for her strong dedication to her lyrics and for her fingerstyle work. She recently placed third in the Tucson Folk Festival’s Songwriting Competition, and received an Honorable Mention in the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival’s Songwriting Competition. Words Through The Seasons is a lyrical walk through the trails of the heart where the leaves change color.
