Album Notes

Growing up in the Eastown section of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Alicia attended Grand Rapids Christian High School and Horizons High School. In addition to her professional career as a pianist and keyboardist, she has pursued her interests in art, computers, and creative writing as an undergraduate. Her artistic talents extend to watercolor and charcoal, and include cartooning. Alicia has appeared in several independent films, and created the scores for several short feature films. She also was the original keyboardist for the band “Dendura”.

Alicia started playing the piano twenty years ago when her mother purchased an old upright piano. Without formal training, she began improvising her own melodies and has created a repertoire that encompasses the genres of easy listening and new age music. Her unique, original compositions have the richness of David Lanz and George Winston, yet remain identifiably her own style.

Her versatility as a musician allows her to perform at weddings, dinners and anniversary celebrations, and she has created praise music for the church ministry. She played at the 25th anniversary celebration for the Women’s Resource Center of Grand Rapids which featured journalist Helen Thomas as the guest speaker. Alicia also performs regularly at fine restaurants in her hometown.
