Album Notes

Ali Johnston has always been a singer. Around six years ago, she gave her art a public voice and began singing in various venues in and around the San Francisco Bay Area.

Always well-received but seeking a more personal adventure, she began writing and performing her own material. Drawing inspiration from influences as diverse as Bjork and Duran Duran, Ali began crafting subtle elegies which hint at melancholy but ultimately inspire thoughts of boldness and greatness.

Her work invites us to celebrate the beauty of music and, by extension, a love of this life we live.

i've just listened to ali johnston's "dear mars" and agree that there is definitely a hint of a "softer & kinder" bjork there - very dreamlike with a wonderful immediacy and almost childlike wonder, but poignant. reminds me of cocorosie or bats for lashes. can't wait to hear more from this artist!
