ALJOSA JERIC QUARTET
The Venice Session

The quartet met for the first time in Venice where the musicians got to know one another personally and musically.
There the quartet spent a few glorious days and drank in the evocative atmosphere of Venice. This came out clearly, I think, in the music which followed in our concerts and in the studio.

Aljosa Jeric was born in Koper, Slovenia in 1973. Cultural events were flourishing around Aljosa's family since his parents were employed at a local newspaper and a TV station. After a very short period of flute study, at the age of eleven Aljosa switched to the snare drum class at the local school of music and joined the local drum corp.

In a short time Jeric was in great demand on the music scene, finding himself involved in brass bands, dixieland and jazz-rock bands.

In 1991 Aljosa earned a place in the class of classical percussion at the Trieste Conservatory of Music in Italy. Along formal classical studies Jeric focused on jazz and latin music by studying with Reggie Workman, Jimmy Cobb, Albert "Tootsie" Heat, Sam Ulano, Nat Adderley, Victor Lewis, Jose Luis Quintana "Changuito", Steve Berrios, Bobby Sanabria and performing regularly with jazz and latin bands; Big Band RTV Slo and Ocho Rios among others. Aljosa graduated in 1996.

For a short period during 2000 Aljosa Jeric also worked with the G. Verdi opera house in Trieste and the Symphonic Orchestra of Friuli Venezia Giulia around Italy and Slovenia with the famous violin maestro Uto Ughi. Aljosa also co-wrote and recorded for Vitaly Osmatcko in Havana with Tony Perez on piano among other great Cuban musicians.

Currently Aljosa Jeric leads his own quartet with Igor Lumpert on sax, Bruno Cesselli on piano and Danilo Gallo on bass with "The Venice Session" CD released in 2004 and a second one ready to be released in 2005.

At the moment Jeric has collaborated and performed with many artists such as Barry Harris, Toni Perez, Hector Martignon, Renato Chicco, Bruno Cesselli, Dusko Gojkovic, Peter Mihelich, Giovanni Maier, Alex Milo, Danilo Gallo, Marc Abrams, Jacko Schoonderwoerd, Gianni Basso, Wolfgang Puschnig, Igor Lumpert, Gianluca Petrella, Daniele D'agaro, Tobias Delius, Nevio Zaninotto, Robert Bonisolo, Francesco Bearzatti, Jure Pukl, Royce Campbell, Sandro Gibellini, Primus Sitter, Primoz Grasic, Dejan Pecenko, Kyle Gregory, Peter Herboltzheimer, Milan Nikolic, Marko Djordevic, Big Band Rtv Slo.
