The Coinola C2 is an Orchestrion and contains a piano, mandolin, flute pipes, snare drum, base drum and cymbal. This type of instrument is now commonly called a “Nickelodeon”. This particular example is an early model Coinola C2 and is one of the rarest coin operated pianos in existence. It was built in the early part of the 1900’s by the Operator's Piano Company of Chicago, Illinois. These instruments played in various locations such as ice cream parlors, saloons, hotel lobbies and other places where people would pay to listen to the instrument. It took a single nickel to play one selection from the machine. Sit back and listen while this perfectly tuned instrument plays a variety of American music. The type of songs included are Waltzes, Blues, Fight Songs and others. Sit back, relax and listen to the music your parents and grandparents listened to years ago.
