Secrets

Mint Holdsworth, not as utterly brilliant as f.i. 16 Man of Tain of Wardencliffe Tower but yet the high standard you may deservedly expect from the world's number one guitarist. Allan cannot but record top jazz albums which entirely stand out in musicality, artistry, utterly good taste and top guitar works. I really look forward to Allan's long awaited next record, Snakes and Ladders. Cheers, B

ALLAN HOLDSWORTH SECRETS
author: Scott Clayton
Allan Holdsworth has improved me as a human being dwelling on this paradoxical orb. When I spun this much-anticipated remaster/reissue of the undisputedly AWESOME album that is known as Secrets, I became re-energized and re-vitalized with all the combined ethereal beauty/unmitigated fury that is given (the money spent is waaay more than well worth it!) to us fortunate souls that reap the benefits of this exquisite and unparalleled artist. We are a privileged bunch who get to experience the cathartic journey that Mr. Holdsworth allows us to share with him. We are guided by his gifts spritually, psychologically and physically. From genesis to composition and execution, guitar to Synthaxe manipulation, this is a fellow human being that comes from a unique angle of life perspective and is able to communicate that viewpoint to his audience, his bandmates and to himself through breathtaking and inspiring musical notes. Secrets is a balanced masterpiece comprised of all the varied human emotions we grapple with and some that we aspire to feel. I liken it to therapy. The sublime Synthaxe solo of \"Maid Marion\" is floating-on-a-cloud like, the band cooks at a just-about-to-blow-up tempered simmer behind Alan Pasqua\'s guest piano spot on \"54 Duncan Terrace\"...and, oh my gosh...Allan\'s guitar mastery on the the other Steve Hunt penned \"Joshua\"...wrenches my heart out of my chest, teaches it more lessons about passion, compassion and humility and then gently re-inserts it back into my soul and body. I subsequently forge on stronger, wiser, and more loving and I am even more okay with my own Secrets upon each listen. We are truly blessed.
