Album Notes

Raised poor, Jim Allchin grew up in a one-room house on a farm in the Deep South. To earn money while in school, he traveled the south playing in bands, garnering rave reviews for his diverse and passionate guitar playing. After leaving the farm, Allchin discovered a new love, computer science, leading him to Stanford and Georgia Tech, a Ph.D., and later to Microsoft, becoming a world-recognized leader in Computer Science along the way. As Bill Gates put it β€œHe's a brilliant technologist, visionary, and a strong leader.” Throughout his highly successful career in software, his heart remained devoted to music, his first love. In recent years, he has returned to his original passion, encouraged by everyone who has heard his music, including the legendary artists Eric Johnson, Buddy Guy, and Eric Clapton.

His first official release, Enigma, is composed of a wide collection of styles – from pop, metal, Latin, and country, to his heritage, the blues.

This release reflects a lifelong muse, which is heartfelt and all encompassing. The pop sensibility, with a touch of rock, blues and country, keeps the listener intrigued with sophisticated arrangements, deep grooves, and unforgettable hooks.
