Album Notes

Doug Allen's new cd brings 25 years of evolving perspectives and musical styles into a refreshing collection of original songs. Blue Water is a cautionary tale about a big flood inspired by southwest Colorado legend. Love songs range from hopeful in Harvest Moonlight Teaser, contented in Good Life, to melancholy in Rocking Horse. He finds satire in Entropy and Take Me to Texas, and snapshots of life such as in Mr. Freedom. The production clean and true to his live performances. Jay Rawley (solo guitarist on the CD) adds depth and emotion with his guitar work, and Pat Cantlon's percussion provides surprising rhythmic dimensions. Doug lives in Bellingham , Washington where he performs in local venues. This is a CD you will want to put it in you car stereo and leave in for days.

I like this CD more every time I play it. The songs make me feel something, and the spare production gives it an intimate, clubby feel.
