Thank you for listening!
A couple of these compositions have been with me for many years being shared only in concert. I composed and recorded the rest of these piano solo's while exploring ideas working on a new full length children's ballet about a faerie who has an adventure. Some of these have become story ballets and modern dance pieces.
"Temptation" is a story ballet of mine about Saint Anthony's temptation of the 7 Deadly Sins. I wrote the ballet for 11 dancers during summer and autumn of 2010 and it premiered April 9, 2011 at Wildish Theater in Springfield Oregon. Originally, I composed this piece entitled "Temptation of Saint Anthony" at 7 minutes and 15 seconds. I premiered my original version as a solo piano piece at Universal Hall, Findhorn Foundation in Scotland.
"Letting Go" is interesting in that I composed this piece for dance one evening after Laura Peralta's choreography was set and on film rather than choreography being created around the music. It depicts the psychological/emotional unmasking process. The video with Laura's dance piece is on my you-tube page.
"Sunday Butterfly" is part of a writing/recording project I am enjoying with Beatriz Tierno in Madrid, Spain.
I began composing "Prelude in E-minor" 17 years ago! It was received very well at 8 minutes for about a dozen years but I always knew something was missing. I tested it at about 11 minute duration at Emerson Theater in Bozeman, Montana during the middle of first set in solo concert, received a full minute of applause which is not usual for the middle of a first concert set. I completed the full 12 minute 41 second version in September 2011. Was very happy when I realized that was completed!
I wrote "Falling Leaf and Sparrow" in February 2010. This piece is about finding courage to let go, so that beauty may find you.
