Album Notes

Allen’s Landing Band is an acoustic voice and instrumental trio playing bluegrass, country and traditional music with emphasis on close three part harmony. We have recently released our first CD titled Dimming of the Day.

Allen\'s Landing Band brings together three original artists, recording as a group for the first time. A new band with old roots, its members combine over 80 years of performing experience.

George Hanson, vocals and bass. George, a veteran Texas bluegrass artist, performed for many years with the popular SALTGRASS, appearing on the Grand Ol\' Opry in 1981. He has opened shows for Ricky Skaggs, Steve Warner, Billy Joe Royal and other top acts and has been a festival favorite for many years. His fine tenor vocals and solid bass fiddle set the tone for the group.

Bobby Nichols, vocals, lead guitar. Bobby is well known throughout Texas as much for the original stylings of his baritone voice as for the incendiary moves of his flat pick guitar. He has opened for Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver. His controlled and complex harmonies draw on an upbringing in the rich a cappella vocal celebrations of the Church of Christ. He currently performs in Houston and teaches students of guitar and voice.

Bettie Anderson, vocals, rhythm guitar. With Latin origins and Texas roots, brings her eclectic sensibilities to the group. Her sensitive vocal interpretations and instinct for harmony blend elements of folk, bluegrass, and traditional music.

This is a great album. Apparently, this is the first effort for this group. They should stick together.
