Allister Ivy launches hot new rock sound -

Nowadays, when one pop group tends to sound like the next, it's refreshing to introduce an arena rock band that stands out musically. Allister Ivy, formed in 1998 by two uniquely talented musicians, draws on the legendary styles of some of the top classic rockers, but has a contemporary alternative sound that throws present-day pop convention out the window.

Together, Raymond Allister and Ivy James are Allister Ivy - breaking rules and breaking through the rock clutter with their debut CD, "Gypsy Caravan." They write from the heart, they play and sing soulfully and they're consummate performers, ready to rock the world.

Raymond Allister, lead guitarist, songwriter and singer, already had plenty of big-name performance miles under his belt. But he was searching for that unique rock sound that's missing in so many bands, choosing to draw on the intricate, harder-edged guitar styles reminiscent of a Jimi Hendrix, Randy Rhoades and Lindsey Buckingham, amongst others. He writes of overcoming suffering and loss and moving ahead with your life. Then he met the beautiful and enchanting Ivy James, and, together, the sound was complete.

Ivy James, lead vocalist and songwriter, has a dynamic voice and poetic style that reaches into the emotional depths of those who hear her sing. Her lyrics are deeply personal, with a touch of darkness and mystery. She sings of worldly self-discovery, all from the poignant perspective of one who, with youthful passion, is on her own path of awareness and adventure.
