Three part harmonies and her rich lead vocals highlight Gloria Jean's original songs, with the fine acoustic guitar playing of David LaPlante & Stephen Pounds, and the incomparable acoustic bass of Dick Kniss (of Peter, Paul & Mary and John Denver fame)

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Beautiful original songs performed with a rich vocal quality highlight Gloria Jean, ASCAP performer and songwriter, the "she" of all-SHe-wrote. Gloria writes the songs (along with co-writers David LaPlante, Ron Gomez and Craig Wheeler) and provides the gotta-hear-more lead vocals; David LaPlante & Stephen Pounds (formerly LaPlante and Pounds) provide the intricate guitar work, harmony and occasional lead vocals. Add to the mix the extraordinary Dick Kniss (long-time bassist with Peter, Paul & Mary as well as John Denver) and you have an incredible sound . . .

Formed in the upstate New York Capital District (Albany), each member of all-SHe-wrote has performed and recorded previously in their own right. This cd represents their coming together into a beautiful and original combination.

And to top it all off, this is what they sound like live! Great care was taken in the studio recording to remain true to representing their live performance. What you hear is what you get.

All-She-Wrote's cd was a pleasant surprise to many of us here at KUMD
All-She-Wrote's cd was a pleasant surprise to many of us here at KUMD . . . good songs, nice arrangements, and Gloria Jean's burnished vocals have just the right touch of weariness to allow these tunes to wear well.

Just one thing to say... Brilliant !!!

Mike Harrison

It's a strong effort both vocally and instrumentally, and great songs!
In my past association with Gloria Jean as a singer and songwriter I have been very impressed with her singing and moved by many of her songs. This album surpasses my expectations for it, not only because of the consistently fine performances by all of the artists, but also because her songs are better than ever, across the board, and the CD was well produced. Great job!

The CD is worth a listen, or two or three!
I had favorable impressions of Gloria Jean's first CD as well as Pounds & LaPlante's 1983 LP, Big Kids-Little Kids, so I was very interested in hearing the All She Wrote CD. After all, Pounds & LaPlante, at times, sound more like Paul Stookey and Peter Yarrow of PP&M than Peter and Paul themselves, and having Dick Kniss on board couldn't hurt either. All She Wrote, however, is not PP&M. Some of the songs have a hook; others just hook you. While these days any CD with 3 or 4 good cuts usually makes my year's top ten list, I had a hard time discarding any of the tracks on All She Wrote. Gloria Jean's vocals are clear, strong an confident, and at times, reminiscent of Karen Carpenter. Laplante and Pounds continue their PP&M, sans Mary, sound (Survivor) and also provide fine instrumentation. Dick Kniss, well, is Dick Kniss. Song For My Trash even got me thinking about Spanky & Our Gang. Gloria Jean's songwriting is strong, both lyrically and musically, I haven't been able to single out favorites, yet. The CD is worth a listen, or two or three. I think you'll agree.

all-She-wrote is original
Clearly devoted to the acoustic resonance of real-life, these three are homegrown and rich in flavor. Their voices and arrangements are at once reminiscent of family and friends . . . originals!
