Album Notes

Hi Fans and Friends!
People often ask us what it's like to be in Al Yankovic's band. They say "Hey, Steve! What's it like to be in Al's band?" Sometimes they say "Hey, Bermuda! What's it like to be in Al's band?" Also heard is "Hey, Jim! What's it like to be in Al's band?" Not to mention... well, you get the idea.

So, we thought we'd record a song that tells our story and answers some of the questions we hear including, but not limited to, the aforementioned "What's it like to be in Al's band?" Performed by all of us (Steve, Bermuda, Jim, and Rubén), it's a 7/4 Gypsy Polka Rock extravaganza of musical styles and reflections on our journey thus far.

(The physical CD includes the instrumental version, lyrics and photos.)

A wonderful tribute to Weird Al and to the friendship that has developed over the years; the type of song you hope to hear at a Weird Al concert. It also allows you to understand that Steve, Bermuda, Ruben and Jim are just as musically brilliant. Make sure you check out their solo stuff as well. Thanks, guys!

Exactly as Expected

Well, then again, they surprised me with their wonderful talents. You can never go wrong with these guys. Being the people (for the most part) behind the scenes of what makes Weird Al's music 100% perfect, they have obviously been trained to perform in the style of any genre of music within the vicinity of their instrumental capabilities. Not only that but they've developed a strong instrumental ear that helps them envision how to put together a wonderful musical masterpiece. That being said I thought this music was awesome. Clearly the versatility they have obtained over the years helped them pull-off this song with all the different sounds and genres that it contains. You could probably consider this in some way similar to Weird Al's masterpiece of Zappa proportions, "Genius In France." It changes the style it's in at many points during the song and still is a blast to listen to. You cannot fully enjoy the quality of this music without giving the instrumental track a good listen. It's also wonderful that us listeners get to hear more of the band's voices! We don't get much lead vocalizing out of these guys unless we listen to their solo work outside of Weird Al's. To finish this review off, I'd also like to say I love the lyrics. It obviously only skims the surface of their amazing and seemingly-eternal career with Weird Al, but it's a wonderful start to a great collection of story-telling songs. Great job guys; you have been wonderful to us fans! Your work will be looked forward to by many, including me, which is wonderful considering that we're still waiting for Al and you guys to finish up ALbum 13.
