Described by the critics as “a group to watch” and a “very accomplished” and “talented collective” who offers “arresting performances”, áltaVoz is a Latin American composer consortium founded in 2003 by José-Luis Hurtado (b. Mexico 1975), Felipe Lara (b. Brazil, 1979), Pedro Malpica (b. Peru, 1973), Mauricio Pauly (b. Costa Rica, 1976) and Jorge Villavicencio Grossmann (b. Peru, 1973). áltaVoz has collaborated with some of the most dynamic musicians in the United States and its members have been performed throughout North America, South America and Europe, in venues such as Harvard University’s John Knowles Paine Hall, Alice Tully Hall and Juiliard’s Paul and Morse halls at Lincoln Center, the University of Nevada’s Beam Music Center, the Americas Society in New York, and the Donaueschingen Festival in Germany, among many others.
