Born in Barrie Ontario, I am the second oldest of 10 children. I started playing the mouth organ when I was about 15 years old, then bought a guitar and taught myself to play. I've been playing music now for over 40 years...
banjo, doghouse bass, mandolin, dobro and a brief encounter with the violin.
Played in 2 bluegrass bands, and was Smiley Bates basss player for 25 years.
Now retired I've finally fulfilled my life long dream..in May 2002 I completed my first 2 albums, "Stories Of Life" & "Pure Country" recorded in Oshawa, Ontario at Ambassador Studio.
In the summer of 2003, I completed 4 more albums. "Diamonds"
"Just A Closer Walk", "In The Key Of "C" Boys" & "My Tribute to Smiley Bates". All albums have been doing very well for me, especially in Newfoundland and in Australia.
I have songs that I have written, ready for an album of all my works wich should be done in May of 2004.
Many thanks to all who have supported me and my music.
You can find my website at: www.ambrec.com and musicmax.ca my album ((In The Kee Of "c" BOy's )This album was a lot of fun to make 3/4 of the way through the album we discovered that most of the songs were in"c" so came the name I just did the rest of them in "c" also and that made for a neat title on this album I wrote two songs the first (Yellow Roses Say Goodbuy)was the first song I ever wrote and it was 8 and a 1/2 minutes long it was so nice to hear it played on the radio and I also wrote (The Miracale)) this song came from the night my wife said to me do you have any change and I said I have a toony a loony a quartar and a dime and I said that would make a nice song so I wrote The Miracale)))My friends at socan said Big Al you should write more songs as the writer gets the royalties this was the start of my song writing and as long as people want my music I will keep on writing thanks to all my fans this is yours truly saying saying MAY THE GOOD LORD TAKE A LIKEING TO YOU /////// BIG AL Traynor Big Al now has a new web page (((altraynor.com))) check it out
