Aly Tadros : Things Worth Keeping
Log in to add to your wishlist
Describing her music as "Tom Waits on an estrogen trip," Aly Tadros is not too far off; the music is the same bumpy and complex acoustic tunes that can be found on Waits's records, but thankfully, Aly Tadros's voice is anything but rough.

Album Notes

When Aly was offered her first paid gig, she had three original songs under her belt . The set time was for two hours. She took it anyways.

"It's a lovely voice as this so in tuned to one's heart." - NPR Austin

Spacious and melodic, salty and moving, Aly Tadros' alternative folk styling tempts each listener out of the vacuum-sealed sterility of every day life. Her classical guitar writhes on the floor of the mind, haunted by the honesty of her lyrics. Comparisons range from the off-kilter Tom Waits, to the commanding Ani DiFranco, and the captivating Fiona Apple.

"Its clear she was born to fingerpick and execute a perfect Cuban clave with her flamenco shoes" - San Antonio Current Critics Pick

Tadros left her hometown of Laredo, Texas at 17 to study across Spain, Turkey and Egypt , and later pursued Middle Eastern Politics at Sarah Lawrence College in New York. After a brief stint working for a US Congressman, Aly left the political world to begin songwriting full time, playing over 200 shows in her first year alone. Within a month of recording her first demo, Aly's music reached the ears of director James Frawley (Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice), urging her to continue songwriting and release a full-length album.

"Tadros wields a voice that travels from lamentive to seductive and back again, often inflected at first with a touch of the various passions but never taken by them, remaining collected while focused and smoky. A good deal of thought went into Things Worth Keeping from all concerned, making it a very impressive debut release." - Folk & Acoustic Music Exchange

Aly's gutsy debut album, "Things Worth Keeping," was produced, mixed, and engineered by Duane Lundy (Ben Sollee, These United States, Vandaveer) at Shangri-la Studios in Lexington, KY. Players on the album include Tadros (vocals/guitars), Robby Cosenza (percussion), Justin Craig (guitars/keys), and Ben Sollee (cello).

"Things Worth Keeping" is set for release August 22nd, 2009, just after a month-long Texas tour and with a three-month US tour in close pursuit. With so much under her belt at 22, this chanteuse is just getting started.
