Aly Tejas, or “Aliucha” to her friends and family, is much more than a gifted classical ballet pianist. Aly’s musicality is deeply rooted in her traditional Cuban music, music that is known for being not only rhythmically intricate but also melodically contagious. She has performed with well-known artists such as Latin Grammy® nominated singer-songwriter Victor Romero and Cuban songstress Mirtha Medina, as well as with numerous other Latin and variety bands.

As a classical piano accompanist, Aly has worked in several ballet and dance schools in her native Cuba and in the South Florida area, and is now a full-time accompanist for the prestigious Boston Ballet. For those of you who don’t know what’s involved in accompanying ballet classes, it is important to understand that there is a relationship between pianist and dancer that should be both technical and musical. The grace of the notes played helps the dancer express, through his or her moves, the beauty of classical ballet. The pianist must know the rhythm and style of each exercise in order to help the class accomplish its goals. Add to all that an attempt to produce beautiful music both melodically and harmonically so as to inspire the dancers, and voila! you’ve got Aly’s first CD.

Although Aly’s first recorded musical production is music for a ballet class, expect to see other types of recordings in the future, as well as follow ups to this CD. Whether you are a classical, jazz, or timba fan, you are guaranteed to get lost in this talented pianist’s sweeping melodies and emotional performance.
