Album Notes

Amanda Tiffin returns to her jazz roots with A Woman Like Me, an all-jazz collection of classic standards revisited, and some of her own jazz compositions.

Amanda Tiffin was born in Zimbabwe, but has made her home and her name in South Africa, and has gone on to become one of Cape Town’s best-loved vocalist-pianists. She is well-known in jazz circles here, performing in all the major venues, and festivals. She includes her Zimbabwe-inspired tune, Tuku on this album.

Amanda has performed extensively in South Africa, and more recently in London, and as a jazz artist in Japan. She has toured with music theatre shows to countries such as Mauritius, Bahrain and the U.A.E.
Amanda released her debut album, Who Am I? in 2005. A Woman Like Me is her 2nd CD release, but the first time she has recorded a purely jazz collection. She lends her own velvet vocal touch to some best-loved jazz tunes, scats her playful way through a crazy Rhythm Changes set, and revamps a few classics.
Local media have made the following comments:
“Tiffin’s voice was utterly sublime”
Cape Argus
“Amanda Tiffin manages to draw her audience towards her magnificent voice.”
iafrica.com
“Her vocal range is impressive and varied and … there wasn’t a song she didn’t get the best out of”
Cape Times
