Born in Cebu City. Parents: Manny & Sheila Cabase. Began her musical career at the age of five, singing her father's compositions & her mother's lyrics in the Visayan movies subsequently starring in her own films as a child star. Her career blossomed & took her to Manila where her television, stage, recording & film career began & flourished.
Dubbed the 'Jukebox Queen'(because Jukeboxes were filled with her hit singles)in the Philippines, she sought more challenges & went on concert tours in Asia & the Pacific, and eventually the US Mainland - juggling appearances at The Fairmont Hotels in San Francisco and Dallas & in her own Magazine TV-Variety show "Amapola Presents" in San Francisco KEMO-TV for eight years.
Scaling the heights of her musical career took her around the world - inland and at sea as headliner onboard some of the world's most luxurious ships.
Through all these years of entertaining all over the world Amapola longed to go back to her roots: the piano. Here now is the first compilation of piano melodies Amapola enjoyed playing for family, friends and for herself.

The selections on the CD all have wonderful melodies and the delivery is sweet and simple. Makes you want to listen to it over and over! Very nice on quiet nights! I agree with the first reviewer, this CD is simple AND Elegant. Feels like coming home!

Pure, Simple and Elegant

This is nice instrumental music good for dinner parties, nostalgic moments, a drive in the beautiful countryside, when reading a favorite book and drinking wine with your favorite one by the fire.
Some of the better renditions in this cd set include: Love Theme, Can You Read My Mind, Moment to Moment, all of these from film themes, and she does a wonderful job of interpreting these lovely melodies.
She clearly has had a classical piano background from her interpretation of Chopin's No Other Love (or Etude) and Meditation from the Opera Thais by Massenet.
Moody and elegant, I loved listening to her version of Ruby and her own style of the popular melody Homecoming which is also very pleasant.
Compared to other pianists, Amapola has subdued and unpretentious style and prefers the clarity of the pure melody.
