Album Notes

Amaranth Road is an acoustic duo that merges Andrea’s roots in the Celtic folk music tradition with Malcolm’s interest in Flamenco inspired pop. The result is lyrically centered music with a unique focus on the nylon string guitar. Love-Lies-Bleeding is Amaranth Road’s first album and consists of all original compositions.

The album has a narrative structure with songs that span a range of themes from the complicated issue of “home” to a love song featuring a woman preparing wheat-free meals for her Celiac boyfriend, which has gone on to become a surprise hit. Attempting to challenge fairy tale notions of romance, Love-Lies-Bleeding explores some little seen corners of love, courts the volatile edge of infatuation, travels into the black spaces of love’s demise, but still ends with a hopeful glimmer. Anyone who has ever been in love, even for an instant, is bound to find something here that speaks to them.
