Rockin' Fresh!
author: Patrick Bean

Has some awesome sounds and the music is catchy. There are some spots where the music seems to get out of control, but that might have just been me rockin' out to the music of my fellow UHA alumni! The music is packed tight with pristine sounding vocals, a pleasant-yet rockin' blend of guitars and keys on top of some great percussion to keep the music moving. I didn't find all of the lyrics agreeable to my tastes, but that can easily be excused by the fact that it is really hard to find any genuine and thoughtful lyrics these days. There is some really great lyrics and themes on this album such as "Local folk talk about what's on the news/say Mary, could you pour me a cup?" That is just one example. Sonically, the album sounds really nice. There is a blend of acoustic and electronic sounds. The mix is stellar in that it has a walk-in opening song, followed by the potential hits, and end with a bang on "Tired Eyes" followed by a little something extra. The one instrumental track, "From Beyond" is well placed before "Eye of the Storm," with what sounds like a crescendo of theme as the music takes you through the storm to the middle where everything is strangely serene. Great work Dave and Rusty!

This is Our Home.... The Frenzy
author: Matt Soper

**This is Our Home... The Frenzy, takes the full spectrum of musical versitily and compacts it into a square 10 songs. This of course is no easy task for a young band putting out there freshman album, but Ambershed opens up this multifacetid range in three distinct ways. **Song structure/style: The songs range from the melancholy rawness of Ballad, to the foot tapping head bopping funk/rock of Royale Blues. Alot of new bands fail due to kindred sounding songs, but not Ambershed, each song has clearly been consciously structured to avoid this common flaw in bands. **Production: It's very evident that Dave did his homework at the Hartt School. The production is probably the shining point in this album, it's clash of creativity and meticulous precision make for a never boring and crisp experience. The spoken word portion of All That Could Be is great, and the vocal intro to Tired eyes is probably my favorite part of the CD (or maybe the the wailing solo's in Royal Blues). **Diverse and infectious Hooks: I always say that what seperates a great song from a good song, is an outstanding hook. This album happens to be swimming in them. Enough said. **While these three elements have built this successful album, it's the foundation of musicianship that holds up this house. From the initial sound of Adams voice you instantly hear Ryan from Guster (great band), and the intricate harmonies/back and forth vocals scream confirmation into a strong Guster influence. I swear I heard Bruce Hornsby on the keys in "From Beyond," very haunting and beautiful on Dave's part. **Well I guess I'll wrap it up. I'm proud of you guys, you worked hard and it sounds great! Peace, Matt Soper of "The Meticulous Remiss"
