I was so happy when I finally got a chance to head into a real studio and record full versions of twelve of my songs in 2003.
But a funny thing happened when I released my CD, Old Horses: people started asking, where are all the new songs? Anyone who had my home-recorded CDs knew at least half of the songs on Old Horses. And what's more - they missed the intimacy of a simple guitar and vocal recording.
So I made the decision to release songs I've never released before, in their raw form, and call it Bedroom Recordings - because that's exactly what they are. These songs were recorded late one night in my bedroom with my 4 track recorder. I added a few harmonies to some songs, but for the most part these were recorded and left as they turned out - flaws, flubs and all. Because if you've ever seen me play live, you know that's me - never perfect, sometimes tripping myself up, but honest.
These recordings are honest representations of me.
Hope you like them.

Simple, warm, personal, and simply great listening.

With this CD, Amelia gives us more of herself in the simple, no-frills, warmly intimate style of her first two CDs. Listening to her music always feels like applying balm to my soul. She gives us 10 new songs here. "California (before)" is beautiful and haunting, and I believe ranks among her best so far, and "My Dog Has Fleas" never fails to bring a smile to my face. Bravo, Amelia! And thank you. I can't wait for the next one!
