Album Notes

This record was awarded the Just Plain Folk Best 2009 European Album Award in Nashville,TE on August 2009.
This record received the prestigious Grand Prix de l'Académie Charles Cros for 2007 best chanson album.

Be prepared to meet pretty strange characters in the world of The Feather Door ! "La Maigrelette" (Skinny) who flies off whenever there's wind, "L'errant" (the wanderer), a 400-year-old ghost who frightens children at night, the mysterious Train 3 which never comes, "le citronnier" (the lemon tree) which soothes heartbreaks, the Great Lady, and also the final truth about Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa's smile !

Around the Feather Door are woven extraordinary tales in an astonishing and magical musical and visual universe. Unexpected instruments with weird shapes and sound, malicious musicians and a new piano who wishes to touch the ceiling. A door to stress the metamorphosis of the 2005 Red poppies Amélie to a new impressive singer, dancer, and tale-teller.

It took Amélie 8 months to write, compose and record the new songs. More than 12 musicians came around for the album to make it sound magical : flutes, harps, senza, glockenspiel, concertina, melodica and of course piano and guitars.

Brilliant

I would like to say first of all that I am very impressed with CDBaby’s products and service. We are fortunate to be able to purchase these hard to find titles at such reasonable prices. Yet if I had paid upwards of a hundred dollars each for these Amelie-Les-Crayons records it would have been worth every dime. “Et Pourquoi Les Crayons?” (2004) and “La Porte Plume” (2007) offer chansons recorded with crystal clarity. Most of the numbers are quiet affairs with light accompaniment, although there are a few with a circus feel. There are too many beautiful moments among the language and musicianship to outline but if I were to pick a favorite tonight I would offer “Le Citronnier”. I believe the song is about the cycle of life and the wish to see a lost loved one again. And the flute just takes my breath away.
