American Sly began in 2003 in Fredericksburg, Virginia when long time bandmates Joe Dmytriw, Andy Ivie, and Peter Diamond found themselves without a voice, following the demise of a former project. The trio began writing songs in a new direction and seeking a vocalist to match the aggressive riffs and rhythms. The trio encountered a “band wanted” ad posted by Jeremy Hancock, who had recently moved to Virginia, set up an audition, and began writing songs immediately. The band now had a collective 50 years experience on their respective instruments to draw from. Within four months of completing the lineup, the foursome had written over twenty songs. American Sly performed over fifty shows in their first year of playing live. A full length demo "Nine Dollar Journey" was released in 2004. A follow up LP entitled "Bi-Coastal" came in 2005.
The band's most recent LP "The Road", recorded in February of 2007 encapsulates the raw talent American Sly has spent four years honing. American Sly has been compared to hard rock behemoths Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Breaking Benjamin, and Alter Bridge. Thanks to regional radio airplay, blistering live sets, and a tireless work ethic, American Sly is developing a large and stable fan base.
