Album Notes

Peter and Mary Alice Amidon are versatile musicians and gifted teachers dedicated to traditional song, dance and storytelling. The Amidons are equally at home doing a concert of stories and songs for adults or children, calling a contra dance for adults or a community dance for all ages, leading harmony singing workshops with adults, or doing an elementary school residency of singing, storytelling or traditional dance.

The Amidons have performed their songs, stories and singing games programs at hundreds of elementary schools and libraries throughout the United States. They spend an equal amount of time leading elementary school residencies in traditional dance, storytelling and music. The Amidons are frequent performers/presenters at music and dance festivals, summer music and dance camps, adult harmony singng camps, and national and regional music teacher conferences throughout the United States.

'The Faerie's Gift' is the Amidons' ninth album of songs for children and adults. Featuring the Amidons' characteristic strong harmony singing, Peter on piano and guitar, and Mary Alice on banjo and accordion with special guest fiddlers Sam Amidon and Pete Sutherland and a short but memorable appearance by the legendary saxophonist Ron Kelley, 'The Faerie's Gift'includes a diverse collection of songs: from traditional to well worn to off the beaten track, as well as an Irish folktale told by Mary Alice. This is an album that will be enjoyed equally by children and adults.
