A Violin Celebration of Many Traditions
author: Tamara Barhar
Wonderful CD,with all different types of music for violin & ensemble. Alexander Mitchell's talent and musical interests are really chameleon- like. There are mysterious, haunting celtic tunes, boisterous dance music from Scottland and Ireland, sophisticated tangos and jazz pieces and music, middle eastern klezmer music and American Bluegrass. There are also several tracks of country music. These are 14 tracks of celebration music for the violin and accompaniment. I was inspired to play the violin again after listening to this CD, I had previously only played classical music. Now I'm playing fiddle music for the first time. Thank you Alexander for a re-introduction to the beauty of violin music.

Candles In The Dark
author: Tom Schneider
Most of the pieces on this album are standard folk tunes. "Colleen
Malone/Golden Wedding Reel" is classical folk and very melodious, as
is "Past The Point Of Rescue/Master Crowley's". The lead-in to
"Candles In The Dark" wanders around way too much and I would cut it out. However, once "Candles In The Dark" gets going (50 seconds in),
it is absolutely brilliant and it is the entire reason I bought the
abum. Put Candles In The Dark on Itunes!!!!
