Album Notes

Amy Lennard rocks. She puts her heart on the line and sings with conviction about love and life. Speaking of life, Amy has had an interesting one. She grew up in Roslyn, Long Island and ended up in a commune in northern California where she was an avid organic gardener and was involved in the Pacific Northwest roots music scene. “It was a little bit like ‘Into the Wild’, except I made it back. I think that wild side of it comes out in my performances,” Amy says. Her album, I Need to Love, is a strong debut, with a bit of rock and twang like Janis Joplin and Lucinda Williams. Her distinctive vocals are soulful and strong, and her lyrics are passionate, poetic and honest.

“I called the album I Need to Love because it’s a powerful insight and awakes a lot of different thoughts and feelings. The idea came to me a few years ago. It was around my birthday, and I was having a hard time. I realized I needed to start taking responsibility for my own happiness.”

Amy has been in the studio for the last two years. “I ended up recording about two versions of each tune. I needed to try some different things to find out what worked,” Amy says. She put together a team of A-list engineers and musicians in NYC including Grammy award-winning engineer and producers Ben Wisch (Marc Cohn) and Jon Gordon (Suzanne Vega) and musicians Shawn Pelton (Sheryl Crow), Oz Noy (Gavin DeGraw), Marc Schulman (Suzanne Vega, Patti Griffin), bassist Tony Tino and violinist Soozie Tyrell (Bruce Springsteen).

Currently some of Amy’s songs are receiving interest from major record labels. She is planning to tour the U.S. and Europe with her band. “I love to perform. I love to sing and to play just as much as I love to write. It is the most amazing thing to be on stage.”

Amy Lennard has her own unique perspective and she shares it in a way that is accessible to everyone. This is bound to be a big year for her. It is her time to be seen, heard.
