Album Notes

"Ananda" in Sanskrit means "perfect bliss" and that is an apt description of the music that emerges from the combined efforts of Rock Hill, SC pianist/composer PJ Brunson and violinist/arranger Laurie Neal. Blending Celtic, Classical and New Age influences, it's a musical meandering down a cool mountain stream, or the ebb and flow of the ocean tides. Either way, the intent is to calm, to comfort, to heal.

"Still Waters" provides a solid hour of moving melodic instrumental compositions, sixteen of them original pieces composed by Brunson, and two of the most beautiful inspirational songs ever written, "What Child Is This" and "Amazing Grace". This music is perfect for massage therapy, yoga, meditation, nurseries, churches, hospitals or hospice settings, or simply as a relaxing background to sooth the stresses of life.

Ananda is honored to support area hospice organizations with a portion of these proceeds.

PJ, Love the CD! What beautiful emotion swells up and falls again into soothing, goose-bump, pleasure. Thank you for sharing such great songs with the rest of us. The violin and piano are great together!

A bit of a haven in a hectic world

Want to feel comforted and soothed? Who doesn't and listening to "Still Waters" is one quick way to get there. I like to listen to PJ and Laurie's melodies when winding down at the end of the day. It's a wonderful transition from crazy to calm. I also highly recommend it for babies and young children! There's a lot of love in this music and when you listen, I think you'll hear it and feel it too.

BLOWN AWAY

I think you need to change the name of your duo from "Ananda" to "Astounding". I was totally BLOWN AWAY. Seriously, the songs are absolutely beautiful and mesmerizing. Talk about a stress-reliever. I laid down on the couch and it even made Zoe (my dog) calm down and she lay right beside me as we listened. Maybe you should market the CD to vet offices to calm down pets with separation-anxiety issues (seriously!). And this is the funny part -- usually when I study my paralegal book, I do it in silence. I played the CD again while reading my chapter and found it was so easy and relaxing! I am impressed with the high-quality sound production and arrangement -- I'm also impressed with Woody's too! I love all the songs but my favorites are Stars (which really sounds to me like a beautiful opening theme for a made-for-TV movie), Daybreak and Still Waters.
