    Refreshingly reminiscent of the days when bands wrote and played material that they liked because they liked it and not because it was "commercially acceptable". Anderson Council's "Coloursound" gives me hope that there are bands out there are worth while!!! If you're a fan of Weller and/or the Jam.......YOU HAVE TO BUY THIS!!!

    I loved this CD. I was immediately taken by the '60s sound and the wonderful harmonies. This is real "feel good" music... something we can all use these days. If you remember the sounds of the sixties, this CD will stop you in your tracks. If you weren't around then, this is kinda stuff your parents used to listen to. Outasite!!!

    I caught the Anderson Council at Sparklefest last month and was simply blown away. I won’t go into influences here (everyone else has covered that quite eloquently), but I will say that if you’re looking for an album brimming with tight, bouncy, hook-filled pop that’s laced with the psychedelic and surreal, "Coloursound" is definitely your cup of tea.

    When I received this CD it didn't leave my CD player for days... instantly hooked. Power pop/rock with great hooks and riffs. Seeing these guys live was even better. They roar with energy. These songs were meant to be played in front of an audience.

    Every track on Coloursound sticks in your brain. Don't try to dig them out...they're there forever. Plain and simple...I love this record.

    The generation gap has been filled! A wonderful collection of groovy tunes that I can share and enjoy with all of my daughters (19, 15, 9 and 18 months). We are generally fighting over what station to listen to. Not the case with the Council! Coloursound is truly a pleasureable rockin' listening experience, and I highly recommend listening - repeatedly! Household favorites are Sitting on a Cloud, Mind Meld Mud, Guru and Blackboard. My personal fave is Poppies! Can't wait to hear it live! (hint hint)

    Shades of the Jam, British Invasion/freakbeat/psychedelia, even Guided By Voices (vocally), "Coloursound" is for all fans for melodic guitar driven pop with a decidedly English feel. Laden with very interesting structures and texture, many of the songs will stick in your head long after the cd player is powered down. Not a clinker in the bunch....well worth the price of admission!

    I popped your new CD in for the morning drive and I must admit it was like a breath of fresh air!! Upbeat, interesting, well written songs and clever musicianship. I love the Mellotron (hadn't heard one in years). Your music has a great British Invasion feel but with an orginal spin. The best of luck to you and your band! I woke up this morning in a crappy mood but by the time I got to work after hearing those melodies, my mood went from black and white to colour. bravo..well done!

    The Anderson Council have come to put the POP back into pop. Neither kids, nor a choreographed dance troupe, The Anderson Council offer a pleasing, retro-routed alternative (if not companion) to the at-times overly saccharine swing of contemporary Jersey pop kings Evelyn Forever. As melodically gifted as their Garden State predecessors (Smithereens included), but boasting an unapologetic and thus more revealing infatuation with the British invasion, The Anderson Council celebrate are celebrating the release of their debut full-length CD. The lead single from their Sinclair Records long-player, Coloursound, is a delicious slice of honey pie called "Sitting on A Cloud", and it's Soft Boys-cum-Sloan charms have already taken my headphones hostage. Their woo-hoo hook prowess will tickle your ears with the persistence of a bully big brother. Hell. "Cloud" and the three other songs (Mind Meld Mud, Feet Of The Guru, Blackboard of your Mind) on their new four-song sampler have even inspired me to watch my new Yellow Submarine DVD on mute, with The Anderson Council on stereo overdub. While nowhere near as hokey as Jellyfish, a better stateside likening to The Anderson Council's charged, imagery-laden rock would be the Young Fresh Fellows or The Minders (Woe is Elephant 6 for not snagging this fab foursome!). As the boys themselves contend when faced with their Brit-fixation, "We aim to re-create the whimsical excitement of the era, but without the acid!" Kinda surprising, the acid stance at least, considering their name is a sly reference that adopts the other halves of Pink (Anderson) and Floyd (Council). What can you say, great pop will eat itself.

    Pop music has a long history of ripping itself off, but in Brit-pop, especially, the crossroad of imitation and flattery often represents the real or imagined threshold of greatness. That said, The Anderson Council could really be onto something (and they're not even British). On Coloursound, singer/songwriter Pete Horvath shamelessly indulges his inner Lennon, but the band's competent musicianship nevertheless lend these ten songs a surprising degree of originality. Extras like vintage gear, analog tracking, and Revolver-esque studio tricks courtesy of producers Rick and Kurt Reil (aka The Grip Weeds) only make for further mood-enhancement. Watch out, though, standouts "Sitting On A Cloud" and "Mind Meld Mud" will take you right back to swinging London Towne circa summer 1967, so be sure that's where you wanna go.
