About Andrew Brel:

Andrew Brel was born in Johannesburg and grew up through the height of the apartheid years before moving to London in 1985. He settled in Surrey where he remains with his family and the infamous miniature Schnauzer Wallace.

Andrew nurtured his passion for music from an early age and has taken this forward working as a musician, performing many thousand gigs as a guitarist/singer and as a producer developing recording skills through owning various recording studios through the years and working with a wide variety of talented musicians.

In 1989 Andrew founded the 'Bridge Recordings' label, producing many albums based on the 'two kinds of music' philosophy. There are only two kinds of music, good and bad. One constant in these productions was the use of real musicians playing in a 'live' context, rather than the cheaper and more commonly employed 'computer programmed' approach. Bridge Recordings was the first label to offer CD albums for sale on the internet in the UK. (1992.)

The most notable albums from the early period include the SAS Band albums (recording great artists such as Roger Taylor, Roy Wood, Paul Young and Tony Hadley) Leo Sayer's acclaimed 'Live in London' and Hugh Burns' solo guitar master piece 'Mindwash'. All of which continue to conjure ongoing international sales.

In 2,000 following the recommendation by renowned English 'Angel' authoress Diana Cooper, Andrew began writing music for the 'New age meditation' genre. In an unusual and remarkable seven day session, the album 'ANGEL INSPIRATION' was completed and very quickly became popular in the new age market.

Making albums based entirely on spontaneous improvisation arising from his own unique musical talent and compositional approach has led to an ongoing process of writing and recording in this emerging musical style.

With the successful reception of 'Angel Inspiration' a further two albums, MUSIC FOR KUMEKA and GOLDEN ATLANTIS followed, attracting positive critical and commercial feedback. 'MUSIC for KUMEKA' has sold in excess of 10,000 CD's, and approaching the same in digital downloads. Sales achieved without any marketing budget.

Most recently Andrew has completed two new albums with renowned guitarist Hugh Burns. ANGELS AND UNICORNS and CELTIC INSPIRATION. Both of which have been featured in the Cygnus Review, (A prestigious UK publication) and are popular wherever people have an interest in wellness.

They are sold in the USA through New Leaf Distribution and CD Baby, In Germany through Silenzio, in the UK through New World Music and in South Africa through Electromode Music.

REVIEWS

This is my record of the year.
author: Joanna Hayes.
I have played this cd more or less continuously for the past two weeks. As soon as it starts I feel a euphoric familiarity, like a connection to a past life. I have other new age recordings, but this one has fast become my favourite.
