Album Notes

This CD is dedicated to all the great Blues and Boogie-Woogie pianists such as: Albert Ammons, Pete Johnson, Meade Lux Lewis, Jimmy Yancey, Otis Spann, Pinetop Perkins, Champion Jack Dupree, Dr. John, Nicky Hopkins, Professor Longhair, Junior Mance, John Mayall, who I have had the privilege of listening to over the last 40 years. My first recollection of being inspired to learn Blues piano was in 1968 when I heard the Blues piano solo by Nicky Hopkins on the song “Blues Deluxe” from Jeff Beck’s first album “Truth”
There are nine songs contained in this CD which I composed, ranging from the slow Blues of H.R. Blues to the up-tempo Boogie-Woogie of Holly and Ben’s Boogie as well as the Ragtime feel of Raggedy Blues and the funky New Orleans influenced “Junk Mail Blues”.
A "note for note" book transcription of all the songs is available from Andrew’s music educational publishing company A.D.G. Productions as well as the many other titles he has authored.
