Album Notes

"Good Sh*t."
- Ralph Murphy, Vice President of ASCAP and author of
too many #1 hits to mention

"I am amazed at the beauty of Andrew's songs...he is an intuitive, empathetic, no rules writer, and is going to be a fixture on the folk circuit for years to come."
- Tom Prasada-Rao, International Folk Guru and producer
of Andrew's debut album

When Andrew Gregory realized that songs were taking over his life, he left college, put his guitar in a closet, and tried to run away. When asked why a talented young songwriter would attempt to escape his fate, Andrew responds: "A musician's life is a tough life, so I decided to avoid it at all costs." Despite his efforts to dodge his destiny, his songs and his talent chased him around the world. When Vietnamese monks heard him humming in their monastery, they made Andrew sing them a concert. As he milked goats in the mountains of France, his boss heard music in his buckets and started inviting friends to his farm just so they could hear him sing. Anywhere he traveled, his friends and hosts would find a guitar and beg him to sing. Eventually Andrew just gave in. He returned to the States by way of Waffle House, finished his degree at Swarthmore College, and began to write, record, and tour with his whole heart.

His music, which catches audiences' ears only a little faster than it captures their hearts, has been compared the music of Paul Simon, John Prine, Tom Waits, and James Taylor. He has just moved to beautiful Charlottesville, Virginia (the folk capital of the south), and is currently celebrating the release of his debut self-titled album, which features the production and performance of Andrew's friend and teacher, Tom Prasada-Rao. He tours the East Coast playing listening rooms, bars, coffee houses, and colleges.

A stellar debut album!
author: Morgan King (Yer Bird Records)
Andrew Gregory's debut album effortlessly bounces from the pop-folk intimacy of 'Fire & Rain' James Taylor to the Texas plains balladry of Townes Van Zandt to the lyrical surrealism of 'Blonde on Blonde'-era Dylan. A stunning debut release from one of Virginia's best singer-songwriters.
