Album Notes

Andrew Kerr sings stories.

Whether he is singing about his childhood dreams of becoming a rap star or about teaching Coal Miners in Kentucky how to plan for retirement, he delivers his unique brand of 'truth is stranger (and often funnier) than fiction' tales with catchy melodies and a hearty dose of sarcasm and wit.

Andrew started his performing career ten years ago as a stand-up comic, and from the moment he steps on stage, this is apparent. His live shows are high-energy and interactive, and have been described as a folk-rock-comedy blend.

Born and raised in New York City, Andrew grew up with a mixed bag of musical influences that ranged from James Taylor and Harry Chapin to the Sugar Hill Gang and Public Enemy.

As a result, his music is a unique blend of introspective folk-influenced songwriting, sarcastic stand-up comedy, and rock and rap-influenced music and grooves.

"It's rare to see someone connect with an audience as well as Andrew Kerr does. This guy was born to be on stage." - Matt Smith, Club Passim

"If you ever stop writing songs I will kill you." - Christopher Smith, Former Music Editor, Performing Songwriter Magazine

"What a great album! Me and Buddha rocks. Congratulations!" - Russ Jennings, Festival Promoter and KPFA Radio DJ

"Think Van Morrison. Think Will Smith. Think blithe comedy and moody poetry." - Santa Barbara News-Press

REVIEWS

Makes you hum, makes you laugh, makes you cry, makes you reflect
author: Britni Fortin
This CD is fabulous and has become one of my "car cds" (the few I listen to on a daily basis). It's very engrossing with an exceptional lyrical and musical quality. "Special K" makes everyone listening crack up and sing along while "More like a year" always seems to bring a tear to my eye. Everything about "Happy Life" makes me listen to it a few times before going to the next track. Each song is indispensible, tightly written, and reflects very real aspects of life. Buy it!

Terrific CD--I can't wait for the next one!
author: Jonathan Hoffman (singer-songwriter)
How many people are writing songs that are so clever, witty, insightful, poignant and just plain fun? Answer: few if any better than Andrew Kerr. Excellent lyrics, nice tunes, good production. My personal favorite is "Wonder Woman Belt," but they're all really good!

Unique blend of sarcasm and honesty, simultaneously hilarious and geniune.
author: Erik Balkey (singer-songwriter)
Andrew Kerr's music is a unique blend balancing sarcasm with honesty. His music has you rolling with laughter one moment and touched with a glimpse of translucent intimacy another. Genuine, real, accessible lyrics combined with funky rhythms. As for the CD -- fantastic production! Not a weak track among 'em.
