Album Notes

\"Hey Andrew,
You sound great -- fun!........ \"
Sandy Shore -SmoothJazz. com

\"Andrew playfully describes his music on his myspace site as \"Pseudo Jazz\". Though I think he was trying to be modest , this tag has often been used by music critics to describe a spurious genre. In contrast I find Andrew\'s music to be quite genuine. After an enjoyable listening to his new EP \"Beautiful You\" late one night I found in it qualities that could be expressed easily with the metaphor of a dessert wine or perhaps more accurately an espresso. The defining characteristics of espresso include a thick consistency and a serving size that is usually measured in shots. It is both complex and volatile. This beautiful little CD possesses all of these traits and then some. It is warm. It is cozy. It satisfies the sweet tooth of the soul\".- Rick Rock - Director/Founder - Tribes Hill-

\"Andrew,
The musianship is top-notch on this track, with strong, tasteful parts delivered by each player. Your relaxed vocal delivery sells the song well. The chord progression is skillfully constructed, and the light breezy vibe of the music effectively fits the unusual imagery incorporated in the lyrics.”
Review of my song “A Wing and a Prayer” by TAXI (Independent A&R Company)

\"Dear Andy:
.....Your choices for the music were lovely and very fitting for this program.\"- Helen M.Jansson for members of PAVE

Andrew was influenced by those great 60’s-70’s rock groups such as Yes, early Genesis, Traffic, Cream, Led Zeppelin, Hendrix Experience and the Allman Brothers Band. Andrew also experienced the influence of the very eclectic, now gone, radio station, WRNW. There is where Andrew heard the likes of Steel Eye Span and other celtic folk artists along with Joni Mitchell and the jazz fusion group, Weather Report, A.C.Jobim, Flora Purim and Milton Nasimento. He studied string bass with Jack Messing,Arnold Schnitzer and Dr.Lyn Christie , Jazz Composition with Irwin Stahl and vocal pedagogy with Dr.Diana Mittller- Battapaglia.
Andrew’s writing has also been influenced by his children, his students and his Bronx neighbors.
