RIDE takes me on a ride --- gives me "Soul Inspiration"
author: andy logan fan
I've listened to RIDE several times now. When I'm down, I put it on. When I'm happy I put it on. Every time I listen, I seem to find even deeper feelings connected with a particular song and it's lyrics. With the political climate of today and the talking heads of politicians and the "question" of global warming while we are driving SUVs and paying the oil companies through the death of young guys over in Iraq, "Ominous", says to me, I don't have to buy it. "Low" , we've all been there. "Halfway There" ,beautiful guitar and melodic vocals, layered upon the bluesy soulful sadness typical of many Logan songs. Great slide guitar in "Move A Little Faster". The title song "Ride" - I have to press replay about 5 or 6 times at least. The soul and sincerity in this album is so "real" , not sure how else to put it. The talent in this album is unmatched. The truth of life is right here, though sometimes painful, never without the highs that keep us going.

Timeless
author: jen
He’s done it again, folks.
Andy Logan’s solo sophomore effort is timeless. Andy seamlessly blends his rugged and raspy voice over chord after chord of emotion, heartbreak, hope, and yes, darkness. It’s raw and exposed. You can hear it in every guitar strum, and with the woefully beautiful pitch of his voice. Andy’s not trying to make it big, and make a buck…he’s already done that. This is who he is. Andy Logan doesn’t write and record music because he just likes to; I think he has to.
This CD weaves a tapestry of light and darkness, through dark chords, and a luminous soul. There’s blackness, and there’s joy. There’s a long for innocence, for a time past. There is optimism. There is history. There are ghosts. This is Andy Logan.
As far as a *review*, I’m worthless at saying who I’d compare it to, and where he reveres his musical influences. I’m not going to compare it to anything…because I can’t. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever heard.
I’m just a girl listening to a record. I can only tell you how it makes me feel.
“Soul Inspiration” makes me smile. It’s love.
“Move a little faster” makes me rock back and forth and makes me feel like I’m in a smoky blues bar listening to someone with so much sincere soul that it makes my heart swell.
“Behind the Curtain” makes me cry. I know what it’s like to take care of someone that used to take care of me. He’s captured the honor, and the sadness. Effortlessly, it would seem.
“Help Mr. Wizard” A pop number about real life. If you can think of a better lyric than “my back is against the writing on this wall”, you’re lying.
“Battleground” is such a beautiful soft song about such a dark subject. You’ll find yourself singing along with your hand out of your car window, without even realizing the the subject of the dismal reality of war…now and then, and yet, Andy makes it ethereal. Sad and soft, at the same time.
Andy has a rare gift. Andy makes it painfully and joyfully clear in this musical biography, that he knows fear. And that he has hope. There is fear. There is regret. There are ghosts. I have them. Don’t you? There’s also love. And a lot of it.
Do yourself a favor. Add this to your collection. You’ll not have any regret.
