Album Notes

Andy Steele has been writing music since starting his first band, The Snakeskins, in the early nineties. A few of these songs have been posted recently at www.myspace.com/thesnakeskins.

Andy then joined forces with ex Long Ryder, writer and broadcaster Sid Griffin and played piano in his newly UK based group The Coal Porters. Andy spent the majority of the nineties doing session work and played keyboards for many years with the Liverpool group China Crisis.

In 2006 Andy released his first LP of songs as the group MuddyHead. Land and Sea was released in February 2006 on his own Word Is Out Records, distributed by Shellshock, and received some enthusiastic support from BBC Radio 2, notably Mark Radcliffe, Janice Long (where he appeared in session)and Tim Smith.

In April this year, Andy supported the band America on the UK leg of their European tour. The tour was a huge success for Andy and his next record, True Believers and the Guises of the Weasel, was released under his own name on September 10th 2007, again on Word Is Out Records and distributed by Shellshock.

Andy has started work on his next album, Night Fishing, expected to be completed in the Autumn.

As well as producing his own music, Andy has a production company(AMP) with the record producer Lance Thomas, and has recently produced and licensed a new group called Julius Martov and The Sexy Mistakes.
Andy is also starting work on a stage musical, a collaboration with the scriptwriter Rachel Connor, and is also soon to start work on an album with the writer, banjo player and BBC Young Folk Musician of the Year Award winner John Dowling.
