Album Notes

Female classical guitarist Anisa Angarola rocks in her performance of traditional Celtic dance music on this groundbreaking CD. Playing melodies finger-style, she is joined by legends Paddy Keenan, Seamus Connolly, Tommy Hayes, jazz flutist Valarie King, and others. Reels, marches, and haunting airs.

"Don't look now, but it's Paddy Keenan on pipes and whistles, Seamus Connolly on fiddle, and Tommy Hayes on percussion accompanying this talented, expressive guitarist, Anisa Angarola, in this stunning release that showcases her melodic expressivity and knack for bringing out the solo voice of the guitar; rather than serving as the strumming backdrop for the traditionally melodic instruments, she steps forward in this album, drawing attention to the nimble and agile voice of her instrument. Ranging from misty and haunting airs to breathlessly vibrant jigs, this is a definite must for any fan of Irish music." EDITOR'S PICK, CDBaby.com review

A truly delightful find. The whistles were great, but the finger picking on guitar truly drives the album. Glad i found this gem.

I enjoyed this CD immensely. Highly recommended for anyone in neeed of a spiritual lift. This is the perfect antidote for today's tumultuous world. Nice to know that there are musicians today that are composing with the intent of touching the soul and not just lining their purses. God Bless and many thanks to Anisa Angarola and her musical colleagues.

one of the best Irish CDs I know

I already reviewed this lady's other works. Since I got to be familiar with her CDs I am addicted! This one's really unusual because most Irish stuff I've heard has guitars strumming but she plays the tunes right up there with the fiddle player and whistle players. The slow airs that she composed are so moving it makes me introspect and their beauty really speaks to me. I'd love to hear her live but for now enjoying the CDs immensely. You won't be disappointed - every tune is a gem on this CD, not like some where you heard one tune and the whole CD sounds the same--she has such a broad spectrum of tempo and feelings and moods and combinations of instruments it is a real treasure, Well worth the money--get them off CDBaby otherwise you have to catch a Renaissance or Craft Fair and hope to find it.
